Due to the fact that most Children's Hospitals are geared towards younger patients, there is a sever lack of focus dedicated towards supporting teenagers and young adults during treatment. "Warriors with Wings" is committed to serving this group by raising money for Intro Flights, Scholarships, and Pediatric Cancer Programs/Research.
Ask friends and family to help raise $500 to make your plane a "Warrior Plane".
On November 17th, Warriors with Wings will hold a fundraising event to see how many landings our "warrior plane" can complete an hour. Participants can pledge a specified amount per landing or a fixed total amount. the significance of November 17th is it was the first flight Ryan (creator of Warriors with Wings) took after being diagnosed with cancer 2 months prior.
Help us bring this 1954 Piper Super Cub back to life and become the most competitive STOL plane in the circuit!
If your know a teenager or young adult battling cancer that would like the opportunity to get into aviation, sign them up here!
The greatest part about aviation is the joy of sharing the feeling of freedom that comes with flying. As a way to help give pediatric cancer patients this experience, Warriors with Wings will provide "Warrior Pilots" (teenager/young adult battling cancer) a FREE intro flight!
As any pilot knows, the path to getting one's license is not cheap. In order to help with this burden, Warriors with Wings will be offering several scholarships to "Warrior Pilots" (teenager/young adult battling cancer) who wish to pursue their pilots license after beating cancer.
Most Childrens hospitals do not have activities that are centered around teenagers and young adults. This leaves these patients isolated in their rooms with nothing to do but watch TV or be on their phones. In order to help distract from their day to day treatments, Warriors with Wings will work towards getting patients access to online ground schools and flight simulators while they are in the hospital.
Pediatric Cancer receives less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute budget. In addition, many treatment protocols have not had any advancements in over 20 years. A key part to Warriors with Wings mission is to continue to raise awareness to this unacceptable fact while continuing to directly raise funds towards pediatric cancer research.
"Goldie" is a 1954 Piper Super Cub and the face of "Warriors with Wings". We are currently restoring the plane to compete at STOL competitions across the country as a way to help raise awareness for the program and pediatric cancer. The plane will feature a gold cancer ribbon across the body of the plane, which represents the color for Pediatric Cancer. In order "Goldie" built and moving across the country, Warriors with Wings is looking for sponsors to help support the restoration of this mighty plane.
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to help cancer warriors take FLIGHT!
